Internet Explorer (IE) or Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) or commonly referred as Explorer is a graphical web browser depiction developed by Microsoft and included in the Microsoft Windows Operating System. It started in 1995, it was first released as part of the Plus add-on package for Windows 95. The newer version is available as a free to download software, or in a service package, and is included in the release of the original Windows 95 original equipment manufacturer (OEM) service and Windows version.
IE was once the most used web browser (because there aren’t superior rival back then, like Chrome or Firefox), reaching around 95% used in 2003. This happened after Microsoft used bundling to get the first browser war against Netscape, which was the most dominant browser in the 90s. The sharing of usage has increased with the launch of Firefox (2004) and Google Chrome (2008), and with the growing popularity of Operating Systems such as Android and iOS that don’t use Internet Explorer.
Estimates for the IE markets are around 2.7% on all platforms or with the number of StatCounter ranked 7th, while on desktop, the only platform that has had significance (such as unavailable cellphones and Xbox) is ranked 3rd at 5,74%. On 2015, Microsoft Edge was announced. It replace Microsoft Internet Explorer as default browser.
There is someone in Twitter that makes comic about Internet Explorer. The name is [Merry] (@Merryweatherey). She (I suppose that this person is a woman) makes comic strips about IE. She also has a patreon account with Merryweather as a name. I feel that many of her comics are funny and some based on the reality (but in Wibu style). There are 3 main characters in her comics i.e. Firefox, Internet Explorer chan, and Chrome. She also an author on Webtoon and has 700.000 subscriber. What a number! She was joined Twitter in April 2014 and still uploading her creation in Twitter. Feel free to follow and read!
